What is bootcamp?

Bootcamp workouts vary, depending on the focus. Generally, they include a mix of agility training, strength training, high-intensity interval training (HIIT), and calisthenics. Bootcamp also focuses on functional fitness, such as using whole-body, multijoint exercises that stimulate movements people do in life. Each bootcamp is different. Some classes focus on 1 minute intervals rotating participants from station to station, others  may focus on amounts of repetition, partner training, and/or competitive team exercises. They are fun and engaging! One thing is for sure, all classes are never the same!

How does bootcamp differ from other gyms/fitness facilities?

GOALS bootcamps differ from other gyms/fitness facilities in many ways.

Gyms - Unless you are an experienced gym-goer, most people walk into a gym intimidated and lost on what types of exercises to do, how to do them, and wonder if they are doing enough. This normally leads people to utilizing cardio equipment, taking group classes (if available), or waisting time & energy trying to figure out a workout. This can be frustrating and overwhelming, leaving the person to feel alone, hopeless and not following through with what they set out to do.

Fitness Facilities -  Most fitness facilities have a structured workout plan ready for their participants. Their main goal is to make the participants sweat and feel like they got a "good workout." Most participants join these classes for the opportunity to lose weight. These facilities do not help the participant scale their weight loss goal, and only focus on the workout. Also, inexperienced participants risk not being able to modify movements due to a previous injury or mobility issues, risking executing the movement wrong, not having direction on proper form, and potential injuries overtime due to neglect of proper form and overuse of muscles.

At GOALS, our priority is to teach participants the fundamentals of proper form, executing exercises correctly and giving the participant more than just a workout. We focus on mobility, strength, range of motion (ROM), form, technique, and much more. We teach you how to use strength training equipment with confidence, names of the workouts, what muscles each movement works, and what results to expect utilizing that movement.

In addition to the workout, GOALS provides you with the feel of a 1:1 experience. Gyms and fitness facilities offer access to their facility or classes as part of your monthly membership, but they fail to incorporate the necessities beyond the workout that you need to achieve your goals. At GOALS, we measure and take progression photos of our participants, so you can see the difference! Most of our memberships include a generalized or customized nutrition plan, a workout plan for when you are not at bootcamp and want to use the gym, 1:1 check-ins to discuss obstacles and celebrate achievements, create a community of support, accountability, belief, confidence, knowledge, and love.

Is bootcamp for everyone?

Bootcamp can be for everybody. During each class, the instructor demonstrates advanced and modified movements appealing to the entire class. It is important for the participant to let the instructor know of previous injuries, health issues or special needs. It is important to share with the instructor any difficulty with particular exercises. Those who are older than 40, are pregnant, haven't exercised in some time, or have certain or severe health conditions may need to consult their doctor before participating in bootcamp or any new exercise program.

What does the nutrition plan entail?

Nutrition plays an important role in your fat loss success. We have two types of nutrition plans based on the monthly membership that you sign up for.

Generalized Nutrition Plan - This nutrition plan is customized to be a multi-functional plan for a wide range audience. It provides a set macro amount that all participants will use. There are multiple ways a participant can choose to focus on their nutrition within the plan; Carb Cycling, Counting Macros, Keto, High Carb, & Planning Ahead. This 15 page plan goes in-depth beyond the serving sizes. It provides the knowledge needed to understand the process of fat loss. You receive education in knowing what Macros are and why it is important to count them and not calories. It discusses intermittent fasting, what it is and is it right for you. What to do if you do not plan your meals for a day, how to stay on track, list of many condiments and drinks that can be used to aid in your fat loss.

Customized Nutrition Plan - When choosing the membership with the customized nutrition plan you are receiving some attributes of the generalized plan & so much more. You'll receive a 30 question questionnaire allowing me to get to know you more as an individual. Based on the information collected in your questionnaire is how your plan will be written. I calculate your individual macro amounts based on your weight, height & age. You have the ability to list the foods you love to eat, within reason, on your plan.

What if I've had a previous injury, can I still participate?

Yes. It is important to continue an exercise regimen no matter your age or previous injuries. Bootcamps are modifiable giving you the confidence to workout safely. It is important to share with your instructor during class instruction what previous injuries you've had, and if any exercises are hard for you to perform. This enables the instructor to accommodate you accordingly.

Does your facility have shower access?

Our facility does not have showers. We do have spacious bathrooms that participants can change in as they prepare for their day. Each restroom has a handicap stall and a single stall, with two sinks and hand air dryers.

What is the benefit of participating in bootcamp versus hiring a personal trainer?

Cost. It's that simple. Personal trainers charge $25-70 per half an hour to a full hour. The majority of the time this amount is only for a workout. Within a month your spend ing over $400-$500 a month. Bootcamp memberships are comparable to other fitness facility memberships in the area, but provide above average amenities helping you succeed on your health journey. The best part, you are lead by a high-level experienced personal trainer who is about more than just the workout. Your trainer works with you inside and outside the training room, supporting and educating you every step of the way. Even in a group setting, your receiving the attention and tools needed to go beyond just a workout.
